They say life is a mirror. It reflects back our moods, emotions, moments of joy and sorrow, and the people we gather along the way: friends, acquaintances, and family. But perhaps life is more than just a reflection. What if life were a portal?
Imagine an inner portal that holds everything we experience — our memories, dreams, emotions, aspirations, and relationships. Some memories are sweet, others painful. Emotions rise and fall, some empower us, others leave us hollow. There are dreams we see in sleep, and those we nurture in wakefulness. There are friendships that uplift, and moments of love that linger. Life, like a living portal, holds them all.
Just as we browse through sections of a website, we too can periodically visit the different chambers of our inner world. We can pause to reflect, to upload new insights, to archive lessons learned, and gently delete what no longer serves us. This process is not just reflective, it is healing. It gives us clarity on what to hold close, and what to let go of with grace.
In fact, it is not a bad idea to create a structured inner portal where each section of our life can be consciously updated and revisited. Memories, emotions, aspirations, and even passing thoughts, when consciously “uploaded,” become more accessible. Over time, they reveal connections and deeper meaning.
At times, these portals surprise us. A forgotten scent, a sudden dream, a buried emotion may remind us that nothing is ever truly lost within. What we once considered trivial may carry a quiet message we were not ready to hear before.
Rarely do we remember our dreams for long. Emotions too are fleeting. But when we consciously hold space for them, perhaps through journaling or mindful observation, we begin to notice patterns. These patterns offer glimpses into our deeper self. They reveal not just what we experience, but how we experience.
Over time, these reflections become more than personal. They guide us toward growth, toward peace. They reveal not a linear path, but a spiral, turning inward and outward, of learning, shedding, and becoming. And in doing so, life ceases to be just a series of moments. It becomes a sacred portal to self-understanding and inner transformation.
Carl Jung once said,
“Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.”
The Yoga Vasistha echoes this truth from a deeper plane:
“The world is nothing but a projection of your own mind. You see what you have stored within.”
When we approach life as a portal, not just of events but of evolving awareness, we begin to awaken. In that awakening, the mirror turns inward, and the journey becomes one of integration, clarity, and quiet inner joy. As we journey inward, we realise the portal was the path within, guiding us to navigate life.
