The occasional eruptions of communal violence in India are deeply unsettling, forcing us to reflect on the path we are treading as an evolved and cultured society. As a nation with an unparalleled cultural legacy, built on values like love, compassion, and brotherhood, we seem to have drifted from our moral compass and spiritual traditions. The principle of “being human” has been overshadowed by a rising tide of hatred and inhumanity, often cloaked in the name of religion and ideology. To term the Delhi riots merely as an unfortunate event is a gross understatement. The scars left by such acts of violence may never fully heal, and the embers of hatred may smoulder indefinitely unless we, as a collective, embrace humanity as the supreme religion above all divides.
